4: International solidarity
The University is particularly keen to develop international
solidarity initiatives. Specific actions have been set up with
countries which require scientific, administrative and educational
co-operation in order to establish and reinforce their higher
education systems. These actions are conducted in collaboration
with international organisations to improve the quality of programmes
and educational methods in the countries concerned, set up research
activities, provide training for University management staff,
as well as professional development courses and help in the organization
and management of universities.
In French-speaking Africa, Université Lille 1 initiated or is helping to set
up professional education tracks, French-language modules, the
development of research themes and training for managers in university
engineering, notably in Conakry (Guinea), Franceville (Gabon)
and Bangui (RCA).
